England midfielder Declan Rice has told his teammates they must play with the same intensity they showed in the second half against Croatia when they face Ghana in an important FIFA World Cup Group L match on Tuesday.
However, Rice says England must not take Ghana lightly. The Black Stars also started the tournament with a win after beating Panama 1-0.
The Arsenal midfielder said Ghana’s recent change of coach has made it harder to prepare for the match, with experienced coach Carlos Queiroz taking charge shortly before the tournament.
“We know as players that we have to build on the second-half performance from the other night,” Rice said.
“We’ve watched two of their previous games. Obviously, they’ve had a change in manager as well, but we have prepared for them like we have before for any other team. They have really good players so if we aren’t at 100%, we will be punished.”
