If you give me $100,000 monthly to live in America or UK, I’ll choose Ghana – Abeiku Santana

The Deputy Chief Executive Officer in charge of Marketing and Special Duties at the Ghana Tourism Authority (GTA), Abeiku Santana has said he would choose Ghana over the US or UK even if he were offered a monthly salary of $100,000, arguing that Ghana has more opportunities but many Ghanaians fail to take advantage of them.

He said the problem is not a lack of opportunities but the failure to recognise and seize them.

“If you give me $100,000 in a monthly salary to live in America or to live in the UK, I’ll choose Ghana,” he said in a video sighted by MyNewsGh.

According to Abeiku Santana, Ghana has opportunities that many people overlook because they focus more on complaining about the problems around them.

“So there are more opportunities in Ghana than in America,” he said.

He explained that foreigners often identify opportunities in Ghana and take advantage of them while locals watch from the sidelines.

“We see the opportunity but we are not able to seize the opportunity. Then foreigners or expatriates come, they see it and they seize it,” he said.

Abeiku Santana said many Ghanaians also fail to see the connection between problems and opportunities.

“We see the opportunity but we lament. We always complain,” he said.

“Anything that people are complaining about is opportunity. Opportunity is work.”

He added that while people often want things to be easy, many opportunities come from solving difficult problems.

“Opportunity is problems but we don’t like problems,” he said.
