Jesus to become new Portugal head coach

Jorge Jesus is set to become the new head coach of the Portugal national team. The 71-year-old will succeed Roberto Martínez, who announced he will step down after the end of his contract following Portugal’s 2026 FIFA World Cup campaign.

Jesus recently left Saudi Pro League club Al Nassr, where he guided the team to the league title alongside Portugal captain Cristiano Ronaldo.

Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano confirmed the development on X, writing:

“Jorge Jesus to become new Portugal head coach, here we go! He’s accepted to take over after Roberto Martínez.

“Jorge Jesus will lead the project for Nations League, Euro 2028 and next World Cup.

“He’s won Saudi Pro League title at Al Nassr this season with Cristiano.”
