Portugal head coach Jorge Jesus has agreed to take part in an urgent meeting with Cristiano Ronaldo in an effort to resolve their disagreement and prevent a premature end to the captain’s international career.
According to Portuguese publication A Bola, Jesus has accepted the mediation initiative proposed by the Portuguese Football Federation (FPF), with federation representatives now waiting for confirmation from Ronaldo on whether he is willing to take part in the discussions.
The meeting became necessary after Ronaldo left Portugal’s training facility in Copenhagen on Wednesday following a conversation with FPF president Pedro Proença.
Ronaldo later indicated that he would reveal the circumstances surrounding his departure “at an appropriate moment.” He has not made any formal public statement about retiring from international football.
