KK Sarpong: It’s early, but Mahama’s government shows promise

Former Chief Executive for Ghana National Petroleum Corporation (GNPC), KK Sarpong, believes that even though it’s early, there are signs of an improved economy under the leadership of John Dramani Mahama.

Speaking to Accra-based Channel One Television, he highlighted the exchange rate, interest rate, and inflation as areas that have improved drastically under the current government, which are worthy of commendation.

He noted that arguments exist regarding the government’s intervention in the markets, generating debates; however, a comprehensive examination of the issues is needed before concluding.

“I think it’s too early, but there are obviously good signs. Exchange rate, interest rate, inflation—one must be honest.

He continued, “I’ve made the point before: how sustainable could this be? The whole debate about whether it’s right the interventions in the market, but one needs to look at the totality of issues involved before drawing a conclusion”.
