Kodua warns NPP aspirants against campaigning before nominations open

NPP General Secretary Justin Kodua Frimpong has cautioned prospective parliamentary candidates against campaigning in constituencies after declaring their intention to contest, stressing that the party has not yet opened nominations.

He said the initial exercise was only meant to register the interest of prospective candidates ahead of the formal nomination process for the 2028 parliamentary elections.

“Declaration of intent does not mean that a person has the right to go around and campaign in various constituencies,” Kodua said in a press conference.

“We have still not opened nominations, and we have still not asked people to go around to campaign. This is just a first step towards the process of opening nominations.”

He explained that the party was asking interested persons to submit applications through its online portal between November 1 and November 10.

Kodua said the registration exercise should not be interpreted as permission to begin campaigning, as the party was only initiating the process towards selecting its parliamentary candidates.

He urged aspirants to follow the party’s procedures and wait for the formal nomination stage before engaging in campaign activities.
