Kpandai: NDC Youth demonstrate over Supreme Court decision on Parliamentary rerun

Some youth of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Kpandai constituency have hit the streets to register their displeasure at the Supreme Court ruling on the rerun of their parliamentary election.

The youth are of the view that the party leadership did not attach any form of seriousness to the matter, hence the Supreme Court’s decision to quash an earlier ruling by the Tamale High Court.

One of the demonstrators who spoke to the media said, “We are on the street to tell the NDC that we, the youth in Kpandai, are very hot and we are not happy with their actions in Kpandai. They should make sure that the right thing is done. We went to Tamale, and we won the case so we are waiting for the same thing to happen at their level there.

They should go for the review; other than that, we, the youth of Kpandai in NDC, say there will be no more NDC in Kpandai. We don’t want anything; all we want is the seat. They shouldn’t say we have a lot of seats,” the demonstrating youth said.

In a 4–1 majority decision, the Supreme Court quashed the High Court’s judgment that had annulled the 2024 parliamentary election results and ordered a rerun in the Kpandai Constituency.

The apex court’s ruling halted the planned rerun and affirmed the election of the New Patriotic Party’s candidate, Matthew Nyindam, as the duly elected Member of Parliament.
