Living former presidents of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) stayed away from the election.
Although both Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo and John Agyekum Kufour were expected to cast their ballot at the party’s headquarters, they stayed away.
Some political watchers have described the decision as strategic as it helps in uniting the political party after the election.
Samuel Bryan Buabeng who is a former staff at the Jubilee House in a post shared via social media said “President Akufo-Addo, President Kufour abstains from flagbearership vote. Strategic move for post-election unity and cohesion”.
