Leaving Office Won’t Save You – Jantuah Warns Appointees

Former Presidential staffer and renowned development economist P.V. Jantuah Boateng Dadson has cautioned government appointees against abusing their positions, warning that political power is temporary and cannot shield individuals from accountability after leaving office.

Speaking on Angel FM, Kumasi, Mr. Dadson said persons who occupy public positions must remember that their actions can be scrutinised even after their tenure ends.

He stressed that he would not defend any individual who is found to have engaged in illegal activities, regardless of their political affiliation.

“I will not defend anyone who is held accountable after leaving office,” he said.

Mr. Dadson said allegations of illegal mining must be investigated based on evidence, insisting that anyone found culpable should face the legal consequences.

“Now, if anyone gets evidence that they are engaging in illegal mining and is taken to court, the case will be heard, so everyone should be careful. No one is above the law,” he stated.

He urged authorities to apply the law fairly and investigate all persons suspected of involvement in galamsey, including individuals associated with the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC).

“If some NDC members are into galamsey, their names should be mentioned,” he added.

Mr. Dadson maintained that accountability should not be determined by political affiliation, arguing that equal enforcement of the law is necessary to restore public confidence in governance.
