Let us all support Bawumia – Bryan Acheampong begs Kennedy Agyapong

Former Minister for Food and Agriculture and NPP presidential aspirant Dr. Bryan Acheampong has called on party members to unite behind the New Patriotic Party’s flagbearer, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, as the party prepares for the 2028 general election.

In a statement addressed to party members, Acheampong said rebuilding and reuniting the NPP should be the party’s main focus following its defeat in the 2024 election.

He noted that he understood the disappointment that can follow a primary contest, having contested the party’s January presidential primary and not emerged victorious.

Acheampong specifically appealed to former presidential aspirant Kennedy Agyapong following his recent remarks and threats of action against the party and some individuals.

“I urge him, respectfully but firmly, to lower the temperature and to lend his considerable influence to the work of healing rather than division,” Acheampong stated.

He described Agyapong as a longstanding member of the party whose contributions and influence within the NPP are widely recognised.

According to Acheampong, internal disagreements should not distract the party from its objective of returning to power in 2028.

“Dr. Bawumia is now the candidate of all of us,” he said. “He carries the mandate not only of those who voted for him, but of every member who voted for Ken, for me, and for the others who contested.”
