Government spokesperson Felix Kwakye Ofosu has indicated that the President has asked for a forensic audit of the books of the National Cathedral Secretariat by the Auditor General.
According to him, the audit done by Deloitte did not cover the full operations of the National Cathedral project.
He says that only after the audit by the Auditor General will the government decide on the next action to be taken on the National Cathedral.
“After the forensic audit, decisive action will be taken regarding any impropriety determined and the future of the project itself,” he said.
The minister made this known on Friday, July 18, 2025, while providing details of the Deloitte audit of the project’s books.
“Despite the damning findings contained in the Deloitte report, it does not cover the full scope of operations of the National Cathedral Secretariat and the project itself. The Auditor General has therefore been requested to commission a forensic audit into the National Cathedral project and their activities of the secretariat,” he said.
Adding that “after the forensic audit, decisive action will be taken regarding any impropriety determined and the future of the project itself”.
Meanwhile, the government, through the Attorney General, is taking steps to cancel all contracts in the project.
