The World Economic Forum Annual Meeting in Davos on January 22, 2026, the Presidency has announced.
In a statement issued on Wednesday, the Presidency said the Davos engagement will bring together current and former heads of state to discuss how countries in the Global South can strengthen sovereign capacity and reshape international cooperation. President Mahama chairs the Presidential Council of the Accra Reset.
“President Mahama considers the Accra Reset as complementary to his domestic reform, the Resetting Ghana Agenda,” the statement said, adding that effective governance requires both internal reforms and “a more equitable international system.”
Leaders expected to participate include President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi of Egypt, President William Ruto of Kenya, and President Felix Tshisekedi of the Democratic Republic of Congo.
Vice President Kashim Shettima will represent Nigeria, while Prime Minister James Marape will attend for Papua New Guinea. Former leaders such as Olusegun Obasanjo, Helen Clark, Ameenah Gurib-Fakim, and Ellen Johnson-Sirleaf will also take part.
The Presidency noted that the meeting will launch priority programmes under the Accra Reset, following its introduction at the 2025 UN General Assembly and endorsement at the G20 Leaders’ Summit.
According to the statement, President Mahama has emphasized that “sovereignty means the capacity to execute national visions while building strategic partnerships, particularly within Africa and across the Global South.”
