Mahama will not tolerate conduct that undermines govt – Callistus Mahama warns appointees

Callistus Mahama, the secretary to President John Dramani Mahama, has warned ministers and other political appointees that the President will not tolerate conduct that undermines discipline, accountability and the effective running of government.

In a notice issued to all ministers and political appointees, he said recent changes within government were part of President Mahama’s efforts to strengthen leadership and ensure that his appointees remain aligned with government policies and priorities.

“The recent ministerial changes and the dissolution of selected boards, together with the impending reshuffle of Chief Executives, reflect the President’s determination to strengthen institutional leadership, enhance coordination and ensure that every appointee remains fully aligned with the Government’s policies and priorities,” Dr Mahama stated.

He reminded ministers, deputy ministers, chief executives, board members and other political appointees that they are expected to conduct themselves with integrity, diligence and humility while respecting established administrative procedures.

He warned that the government would not tolerate actions that affect its cohesion or interfere with the implementation of its policies.

“Conduct that undermines governmental cohesion, institutional authority or the effective implementation of Government policy will not be tolerated,” he said.

Dr Mahama also stressed that holding public office should be viewed as an opportunity to serve Ghanaians rather than a privilege to be taken for granted.

“All appointees are reminded that public office is a privilege and an opportunity to serve the Ghanaian people,” he said.

He added that the performance of government appointees would continue to be assessed and that President Mahama would take further action where necessary to protect the effectiveness of his administration.

“Performance across all sectors will continue to be assessed, and the President will take any further action necessary to safeguard the integrity, effectiveness and responsiveness of his Administration,” he stated.
