Man arrested for killing girlfriend and sending photos to her family

A Kenyan man, Nelson Ambia has been arrested for the murder of his girlfriend, Feruz Hussein, at their home in Sunton, Kasarani.

Ambia was detained at Kasarani Police Station following a search that involved former Nairobi governor Mike Sonko, who offered KSh 50,000 for information leading to his arrest.

According to Sonko, Ambia allegedly attacked Feruz following a domestic dispute and later sent her family a video blaming her mother for the incident.

Sonko also alleged that Ambia had previously assaulted Feruz and several of her relatives, while the family told authorities he had threatened her two teenage siblings.

Feruz’s relatives reported the case to police and sought Sonko’s assistance in finding the suspect.

Announcing the arrest, Sonko thanked the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI), including its Kasarani officers, and residents of Kasarani, Dandora and Naivasha for helping locate Ambia.

“Nelson thought this family was too poor and helpless to get justice. At some point he even used to assault all the family members,” Sonko said.

Ambia was expected to appear before a Milimani court the following morning.
