Member of Parliament of Ellembelle, and the Minister of Lands and Natural Resources, Emmanuel Armah Kofi Buah has officially launched the Patriotic Journalists Against Galamsey (PAJAG), a new coalition of media professionals dedicated to ethical reporting and advocacy against illegal mining.
Speaking at the event, Buah said, “Today, I had the honour of joining dedicated members of the fourth estate to officially launch PAJAG.
“This coalition brings together a dedicated corps of media professionals committed to ethical reporting and fearless advocacy in our national fight against illegal mining.”
He added that PAJAG’s work will complement Ghana’s broader efforts to curb galamsey, supporting law enforcement operations by the National Inter-Ministerial Taskforce on Small-Scale Mining (NAIMOS) and sustainable programs like rCOMSDEP.
“By bridging the gap between public awareness and policy, this group reinforces our multi-pronged national strategy,” Buah noted.
PAJAG aims to ensure that reporting on mining activities is responsible and impactful, raising awareness about illegal operations while promoting sustainable practices that protect both communities and the environment.
