Jose Mourinho, coach of SL Benfica, says he could say no if Florentino Perez asked him to return to Real Madrid CF.
Mourinho will face the Spanish club on Tuesday in the UEFA Champions League play off round. The second game will be played at the Santiago Bernabeu Stadium next week.
Mourinho coached Madrid from 2010 to 2013. His contract at Benfica has a rule that allows him to leave if he wants.
The 63 year old led his team to beat Madrid 4-2 in the league phase of the Champions League in January.
“Can you say no? Yes,” Mourinho told reporters when asked if he could reject an approach from the Madrid.
“Yes you can.
“I gave everything to Real Madrid, everything that I had, I did good things, I did bad things, but I gave absolutely everything and that’s all.”
