Member of Parliament for Akyem Swedru in the Eastern Region, Kennedy Osei Nyarko, has questioned how the ruling by the Supreme Court that all party members in good standing should vote during internal elections will be implemented.
He notes that parts of the ruling urged the Electoral Commission and the political parties to fashion out how they will determine party members of good standing.
However, the Supreme Court, after the orders, did not provide a clear way in which they expect the orders to be implemented.
In a social media post commenting on the development, the lawmaker said “The court orders on the OMOV gives the political parties the power to determine who a member in good standing is based on their constitutions.
I’m happy the SC has acknowledged that the OMOV will not end the monetisation of our internal elections. Per this orders the EC is supposed to work with the various political parties to put together its members. How is this particular order going to be executed?”
