Former Majority Leader, Mahama Ayariga has said that his only problem he had with the National Cathedral was the location.
According to him, the idea is a perfect one, however, the execution wasn’t the best.
“Personally, I think it’s a good idea. The only issue I had…I had issues with the location. I thought that the location wil only increase the traffic in that neighborhood. I also felt that we had a lot of unused land by the ocean and we hadn’t elected to use those lands that were free and we had to pull down bungalows,” he said.
His other reservation according to him was “we could have mobilized a lot of private and philanthropical support for the construction. So I think there was a shortfalling of the entire project”.
He indicated that if he is approved, he will engage the leadership of the Christian community indicating that if they remain committed to the construction of a national cathedral, he will engage the president and if it’s the wish of the president, he will wholeheartedly support and mobilize for the project to be continued.
