Former MASLOC CEO Sedina Tamakloe Attionu is now where the law says she should be, according to Akwatia MP Bernard Bediako Baidoo.
Speaking on Newsfile, Baidoo dismissed suggestions that the current administration manipulated events leading to Attionu’s return to Ghana and subsequent imprisonment.
“When we came to power, we didn’t do anything to obstruct the process. The process has not ended, and there is nothing on record to show this government frustrated it,” he said on Joy News.
Attionu was convicted in absentia in 2024 and sentenced to 10 years in prison over offences including stealing and causing nearly GH¢90 million financial loss to the state during her tenure as MASLOC CEO.
Baidoo argued that once she had been returned to Ghana and placed in the custody of prison authorities, the state’s responsibility was straightforward.
“She has been successfully brought in. We have handed her over to the Prison Service. We have to ensure that she serves her sentence, and that is exactly what we have done,” he stated.
