About 359 new HIV cases were recorded in the Northern Region in 2025, officials of the Ghana AIDS Commission have confirmed at a public event
According to the Ghana AIDS Commission, the Northern Region is experiencing a rise in HIV prevalence that calls for urgent attention.
Mr. Nuhu Musah, Northern Regional Deputy Director, Technical Support Unit, Ghana AIDS Commission, said HIV prevalence has increased over the last three years.
“Last year we recorded an increase of 0.43% and this year it’s 0.48%,” he disclosed at a sensitization forum.
He expressed concern about the trend and urged residents to take their health seriously.
“These figures are coming from our homes, workplaces, communities and districts, and I am not sure we all know each other’s HIV status,” he said.
