Owen Surprenant, a young man known for his leadership and friendliness to everyone around him in addition to his athletic prowess, passed away in a tragic manner, leaving the Hudson community in mourning.
For his colleagues, family, friends, and the numerous young athletes who looked up to him, his death has left a profound hole in their hearts.
Growing up in Hudson, New Hampshire, Owen became well-known and cherished in the community’s youth athletics.
He took part in the town’s recreation programs from a young age, playing basketball and soccer during his adolescence.
He graduated from high school in 2025, still committed to sports. For Owen, sports were always about friendship, development, and giving back rather than just competition.
The very programs that shaped Owen had brought him full circle in recent years. He came back to the Hudson Recreation Department as a coach instead of a player.
While the Hudson community mourns deeply, there is also a shared commitment to carry forward the energy and ideas Owen brought to his coaching.
