Parliament must act – Hopeson Adorye raises concerns over begging at Parliament entrance

Hopeson Adorye, a former New Patriotic Party (NPP) member and now a leading member of the United Party (UP), has called on Parliament to address what he described as persistent begging at the entrance to Parliament House.

Sharing his experience on social media, Adorye said he visited Parliament last Thursday and encountered people he identified as supporters of both the NPP and the NDC asking visitors for money.

“I was in Parliament last Thursday and the number of professional party beggars I met at the entrance was so horrible. They all run to you for money as if you are owing them,” he wrote.

According to Adorye, the situation became more difficult after he got into his vehicle.

“In fact, when I managed to enter my car, some blocked my door to prevent my movement without giving them anything,” he said.

He called on Parliament to take steps to address the situation.

“It is time to take action against this kind of begging at the entrance of Parliament,” Adorye wrote, adding the hashtag, “ParliamentMustActNow.”
