People can vote freely now, unlike in the past – NDC Deputy Secretary

NDC Deputy Secretary, Mustapha Gbande has drawn comparisons between former President Nana Akufo-Addo’s era and the ruling NDC government regarding by-elections.

“Ghanaians, all of you know what you are experiencing today,” he said during the just ended by-election in Ayawaso East constituency.

“You’ve not experienced it in the last eight years of President Akufo-Addo’s regime.

“If there were by-elections then, people were beaten and killed. Today, you are standing here freely.”

Gbande said the contrast between past repression and current freedom would influence votes.

“It is fresh. People experienced it, they lived it, and it will reflect in this election.

“I’m saying that if 100 people cast their votes, 80 would be for the NDC,” he added.
