Politics Is Damaging Ghana Football– Adu Kotoko

Sports advocate Mr. Adu Kotoko has expressed concern over what he describes as the excessive politicisation of national issues, warning that political interference is hurting the development of football and the country’s overall progress.

Speaking on Angel FM in Kumasi, Mr. Kotoko said the Black Stars have the potential to contribute significantly to national development if football is managed without political influence.

“The politicisation of everything in Ghana has gone too far, and it is damaging progress,” he said. According to him, a successful Black Stars team would not only enhance Ghana’s image internationally but also promote national unity.

“If the Black Stars are taken seriously, it will help grow the country as a whole, and the unity aspect is a bonus,” he stated. Mr. Kotoko argued that politics has become deeply entrenched in the administration of football and called for deliberate efforts to separate political interests from the sport.

“Politics in Ghana is becoming too much. The politics we involve in football must be drastically reduced or stopped,” he stressed.

He maintained that insulating football from partisan influence would create an environment for better decision-making, improved performance and stronger national cohesion.
