Politics is not football – Kwabena Agyepong

Former General Secretary of the New Patriotic Party and a presidential aspirant, Kwabena Agyepong has said he is emotionally prepared for whatever outcome emerges from the party’s internal elections.

Speaking on Joy News’ PM Express, Agyepong stressed that political contests should be approached with maturity and balance.

“I believe in an election, it’s not like a football game,” he said. “It’s either you win, or you do not win, and you have to prepare yourself emotionally for either outcome, which is what I have done.”

He explained that he entered the race with a clear mindset, knowing that victory is never guaranteed. According to him, politics requires mental strength, patience, and acceptance of results.

Agyepong said he remains focused on his campaign and personal principles, regardless of public discussions about who is leading or lagging behind.

“So yes, I don’t dismiss them, but at the end of the day, I’m a very focused person,” he stated.

He added that his priority is to engage party members respectfully and present his ideas clearly, rather than being distracted by external pressures.
