Portable questions why Mavin artists lose momentum after leaving label

Nigerian singer Portable has questioned why artists who leave Mavin Records struggle to maintain their dominance in the music industry.

Speaking in a video, Portable directly addressed Don Jazzy, the head of the label.

He said, “Street Don Jazzy. Hello, Daddy Don Jazzy. Don Jazzy, Don Jazzy. As they say, hear your voice. Anytime they come out from your side, they know they rain again. They know they see we go package them again.”

Portable also appealed to Don Jazzy to collaborate with him. “My Daddy, come and package me. Let’s join business. Don Jazzy and Dr. Zé. Many, many inspirations, Zé Nation,” he stated.

He reflected on artists who had worked under the label, noting that they often lose momentum after leaving.

“All those boys, YBC, even they come out from your side. They calm down. Even Rama, calm down. Tiwa Savage, no calm down. Blessing Mama, see they come your side,” he said.

Portable concluded by emphasizing his respect for Don Jazzy and the opportunities he has provided.

“Yes, I blow people by me. Even people still blowing me. Yes, I Don Jazzy. Come and blow me. Let me blow you. Let’s make money together,” he said, signaling his desire for a working partnership.
