Deputy Attorney-General Justice Srem-Sai says the prosecution expects to close its case next week in the trial involving former National Signals Bureau Director-General Kwabena Adu-Boahene and two others.
In a statement, Srem-Sai said state attorneys and investigators from the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) have completed the presentation of evidence they believe supports the prosecution’s case.
“We look forward to closing our case in The Republic v Kwabena Adu-Boahene & 2 Others next week,” he said.
According to him, the prosecution has presented evidence that the Ghc49.1 million at the centre of the case belonged to the Government of Ghana and was held in a government agency’s bank account.
He also said the prosecution presented evidence alleging that the principal accused created a private company bank account with a name similar to that of a government agency and diverted three cheques intended for the agency into that account.
Srem-Sai added that the prosecution believes the evidence placed before the court will assist it in determining the case.
“We believe that justice will be served to both the accused persons and our beloved Republic at the end of the day,” he stated.
