Daniel Annan has argued that sex should not be treated as a solution to unresolved problems in marriage, saying intimacy between couples goes beyond the physical act.
Speaking on Joy Prime’s relationship programme Let’s Talk, Rev. Annan said he preferred the term “love making” because it captures the emotional and spiritual elements involved between married couples.
“When we talk in terms of couples, I would not want to use sex. I want to use love making,” he said.
According to him, sex becomes incomplete when it is separated from emotions, commitment and the willingness to give to one another.
“It’s not only the act, but the things that are behind the act that makes it complete,” he said.
Rev. Annan said marriage requires couples to create the right emotional environment for intimacy, rather than assuming that physical intimacy can automatically settle disagreements.
He also argued that intimacy in marriage inRevvolves more than physical pleasure, pointing to the biblical idea that husband and wife become one.
“So sex is not only physical but it’s also spiritual,” he said.
