SA Evacuation: Kumasi Mayor Dares Minority

The Mayor of the Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly (KMA), Richard Ofori Agyemang Boadi, has challenged the Minority to provide evidence of alleged financial irregularities in the evacuation of Ghanaians from South Africa before calling for an independent audit.

The KMA boss questioned claims that signatures on documents relating to the evacuation process had been forged, arguing that those making the allegations had not produced the individuals whose signatures were allegedly replicated.

“People are claiming that the signatures are fake, but they have not been able to provide the people whose signatures they claim have been replicated. So whose signature is fake? Where is the person?” he quizzed on Oyerepa Radio

According to him, the individuals whose signatures were allegedly copied should be presented so that their original signatures could be compared with those on the documents.

He also questioned the decision to feature people at a press conference whose signatures were reportedly on the documents, while those allegedly affected by the purported forgery were not presented.

“The people who have their signature on the documents are the ones doing the press conference, and those they claim their signature has been replicated are somewhere,” he said.

Boadi said explanations that the individuals were being protected did not adequately address the allegations.

“When asked, they claim they are protecting them. Why would they have to protect them? If it is the truth they are claiming, why hide them?” he questioned.
