Ghanaian nurse, Salomey Awiti Baffoe has returned home after being granted GHC100,000 bail in the case involving social media personality Barbara Asantewaa Kodua, popularly known as Ghana Jollof.
Salomey, 40, was arrested at her home in Hansua near Techiman in September and charged with abetment of crime, to wit, publication of false news. She has pleaded not guilty.
Her uncle, Kojo Asiedu, told Adom News that the family was relieved to have her back, particularly her three children who had not seen her for some time.
He said the family initially feared she had been kidnapped because of the circumstances surrounding her arrest and only learnt she was in police custody after media reports traced her whereabouts.
Mr Asiedu, who brought her home from Accra, said Salomey appeared well but would undergo medical checks.
“We are looking forward to the government, if possible, not allow such a situation to happen again,” he said, appealing to security agencies to follow proper procedures during arrests.
The case stems from allegations that Salomey helped recruit people to redistribute videos produced by Ghana Jollof on social media. She has denied the charge and remains presumed innocent.
