Sarkodie Should Respect Samini – Watumoto

Entertainment commentator and Social Media Influencer, Osei Douglas King Watumoto, known widely as Watumoto, has criticised Sarkodie over what he describes as poor communication with Samini during their attempted musical collaboration, insisting that established artistes should treat one another with professionalism and respect.

Speaking on Angel FM, Kumasi, Watumoto said Samini and Sarkodie have established themselves in different genres and should therefore be able to recognise and respect each other’s stature in the Ghanaian music industry.

“They have their genre and operate differently,” he said.

Watumoto explained that Samini had clarified in an interview that he had no personal problem with Sarkodie, but was unhappy about how Sarkodie handled their proposed collaboration.

According to him, Sarkodie initially sent Samini a verse, to which Samini responded promptly by recording and returning his own verse. He said the same process occurred again, but Sarkodie subsequently became hesitant to respond.

“He sent him a verse and immediately Samini replied and sent his verse. When he did the same twice, Sarkodie was hesitant to respond,” Watumoto stated.

He argued that even if Sarkodie had changed his mind about featuring Samini on the song, he should have communicated that decision rather than leaving the veteran artiste waiting.

“Even if he did not see himself on the song, he should have communicated immediately,” he said.

Watumoto maintained that Samini’s stature in the music industry demands a certain level of professional courtesy, regardless of the differences in their musical styles.

“Samini is not a child that he should be joking around with,” he stressed.
