Stormzy Camp Doubted My Mixing Skills – Khendy Beatz

Music producer Khendy Beatz has revealed that he was not initially trusted with the mixing of the Sore Remix because some members of Stormzy’s team were uncertain a Ghanaian producer could deliver the sound quality they wanted.

Speaking on Angel FM, Kumasi, Khendy Beatz said he was overlooked at the beginning of the project despite being closely associated with the original song.

“They did not give the project to me from the beginning,” he disclosed.

According to him, Stormzy’s team was working with international standards and initially chose to have the project handled outside Ghana.

“Stormzy worked with a label and they had a standard they wanted, so they took it outside the country,” he explained.

Khendy Beatz said he remained hopeful and continued praying and fasting while waiting for an opportunity to prove himself.

“I did a fasting and later I got it,” he said.

He noted that after other attempts failed to satisfy the expectations of the team, he was eventually given the opportunity to work on the remix himself.

“They didn’t like it, so I was made to try my hands on it,” he recounted.

The producer said he dedicated himself fully to the assignment and viewed it as a chance to demonstrate his capabilities on an international stage.

“I really worked hard, and the opportunity also enlightened me,” he stated.

Although the process was challenging, Khendy Beatz said he successfully delivered on the task.

“The process was daunting, but I was able to sail through,” he added.

He described the experience as a significant milestone in his career, one that reinforced the ability of Ghanaian producers to compete at the highest level of global music production.
