The Executive Director of the Media Foundation for West Africa (MFWA), Sulemana Braimah, has reacted to statement made by Sammy Gyamfi on the award of 81 sole-sourced contracts by the Roads Ministry over seven months.
Braimah highlighted what he sees as inconsistencies between Gyamfi’s current position and his past criticisms of sole-sourcing when his party was in opposition.
“Mr. Gyamfi, under the previous government, the state of our roads was also dire. Why did that not qualify as a national security threat then?” Braimah posed.
He further questioned the rationale of urgency as a justification for sole-sourcing under the current administration but not under the previous one.
On social media, Braimah posted, “I just hope that one day, we will have people who will condemn what is wrong, because it is wrong, and not because they are not the beneficiaries or perpetrators of what they condemn as wrong.”
He also pointed out that many of the contracts Gyamfi mentioned were signed after June 2025, long after the NDC came to power, and emphasized the need for transparency in contract pricing.
