The Domestic Violence and Victim Support Unit (DOVVSU) of the Northern Regional Police Command, has arrested one Mohammed for allegedly impregnating a 14-year-old girl in Tamale.
He is also accused of taking the girl to a health facility where the pregnancy was reportedly terminated without her parents’ consent.
The suspect has consequently been arraigned and remanded at Tamale Magistrate Court 1 before Worship Stephen Tabiri.
He faces charges of defilement and abortion and is scheduled to reappear in court on March 4, 2026.
Mr. Mohammed Salifu, the victims father, has called for justice.
He said community chiefs and other opinion leaders visited the family to ask that the matter be settled out of court, but they refused and insist on pursuing legal action.
