Damongo MP, Samuel Abdulai Jinapor has called for greater transparency in government spending, saying taxpayers deserve a full picture of how public resources are used to sustain the machinery of state.
The NPP leading member said the staffing report submitted to Parliament has opened a wider debate about public expenditure.
“The report before Parliament has done more than disclose the staffing position at the presidency,” he said in a video shared on his Facebook page.
“It has raised important questions about the true cost of running this government.”
Jinapor stressed that accountability should remain central to public administration.
“For the Ghanaian taxpayer, what matters is not so much the number of ministers appointed, but the actual cost of sustaining the machinery of government,” he stated.
He said public officials have a duty to provide clear information about how resources are being spent.
“As public officials, we owe the people of Ghana transparency, accountability and prudent stewardship of the public purse,” Jinapor added.
