Nigerian actress Damilola Adegbite has spoken about the changing dating experiences of older women, saying younger men are increasingly showing interest in women in their late 30s and 40s.
She said society once made older women feel they had to quietly leave the dating scene as younger women were seen as receiving most of the attention.
“When society made older women feel like once we have crossed a certain age, you should basically leave the dating market quietly.
“Meanwhile, the younger girls were supposedly getting all the attention. But now, the tables are turning,” she said.
Adegbite compared the shift to the Bible verse about the rejected stone becoming the cornerstone, joking that the older woman who was once overlooked may have become “the premium package.”
She also said she finds the confidence of younger men who openly approach older women attractive.
“A younger man will see a woman who is 38, 40 or 42 and say boldly, ‘I like you.’
“And you are sitting there thinking, ‘Sorry, wait, are we doing this?’ And he is looking you dead in the eye like, ‘Yes, we are.’ And I think that confidence is attractive,” she said.
