The widow of the late Deputy Director-General of the National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO), Samuel Aboagye, has urged Ghanaians to continue the work the eight victims of the August 6, 2025 helicopter crash set out to do.
Speaking at the National Inter-Faith Memorial Service marking one year since the tragedy, Mrs Abigail Aboagye said her husband lost his life while travelling on an official assignment that had not yet achieved its objective.
“Samuel d!ed on his way to a fight that is yet not finished. The rivers he was going to defend are still being poisoned. The land is still bleeding,” she said.
The eight public officials were travelling in a Ghana Armed Forces Z-9 helicopter to Obuasi for an assignment linked to efforts to formalise small-scale mining and tackle illegal mining when the aircraft crashed in the Adansi Akrofuom District.
Mrs Aboagye said the best way to honour the victims was to continue the work they started.
“The truest tribute we can pay these eight is not a speech. It is to finish their work. Please, do not let this be the last year we remember them,” she added.
