Their coach is perfect to help me – Andrey Santos on why he left Chelsea for Man Utd

Andrey Santos has described joining Manchester United as a dream after his £50 million transfer from Chelsea was confirmed on Monday.

Manchester United will pay £48 million upfront, with an extra £2 million possible through add-ons.

Chelsea will also keep a 10 per cent sell-on clause in the deal. The 22-year-old joined Chelsea from Vasco da Gama in 2023 and had loan spells at Nottingham Forest and Chelsea’s sister club Strasbourg.

Santos said: “Everything about Manchester United is special; it is an incredible feeling to join a club that some of my biggest idols have represented.

“As a midfielder, I am really excited to have the opportunity to learn from Michael Carrick. He is the perfect coach to help me take the next step in my career and push to achieve my dreams.

“Everybody told me about how ambitious the club is and the amazing environment that has been created here. I know just how strong the squad is and I cannot wait to fight together to compete for the biggest trophies.”
