There Is Life After Cancer – Stephanie Benson Encourages Women

Ghanaian-British singer Stephanie Benson has encouraged women recovering from cancer to remain hopeful, stressing that life can continue after the removal of their breasts or womb.

The singer revealed that she underwent surgery to remove her breast and womb after doctors detected cancer cells in both organs when she was 48.

According to her, the breast surgery came first and was followed by complications that made her recovery difficult. After recovering, she proceeded with the surgery involving her womb.

Mrs Benson acknowledged the emotional challenges women may face after undergoing such procedures, particularly those who feel that losing their breasts or womb makes them less of a woman.

“After such, most women feel they are not women again, but there is life after cancer,” she said while speaking about her personal experience on UTV, monitored by MyNewsGh.com.

She urged women in similar circumstances to stay optimistic and take life one day at a time, rather than letting fear and negative thoughts overwhelm them.

“You just have to be optimistic and take life one day at a time,” Benson advised.

According to her, maintaining a positive mindset is an important part of facing the challenges that come with a cancer diagnosis and recovery.

“People start to think they will die before they recover, so a positive mindset is very important,” she added.

She also highlighted the importance of taking medical action after a diagnosis rather than relying on prayer alone.

“You can’t just say you want to pray about it alone. You have to do something about it,” she said.
