They destroyed our economy and forgot our names – Franklin Cudjoe on NPP’s August 6 protest

IMANI Africa President Franklin Cudjoe has criticised the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) planned nationwide demonstration over the acquittal of former MASLOC CEO Sedina Tamakloe-Attionu, saying credible civil society organisations will not support the protest.

Reacting to the announcement on social media, Cudjoe wrote, “When you miss jama party. Sorry no serious CSOs will be fooled this time as we did to create Occupy Ghana only to unleash incompetent damaging directors, who destroyed our economy, our livelihoods, ate our food and forgot our names.”

His comments came after the NPP announced plans to stage a nationwide demonstration on August 6, 2026, beginning in Accra, to protest the Court of Appeal’s decision to acquit and discharge Sedina Tamakloe-Attionu.

The party says the protest is intended to defend the rule of law and democracy, arguing that the state’s handling of the appeal undermined public confidence in the justice system.

The demonstration is expected to involve the NPP alongside other political parties, civil society organisations, professional bodies, student groups and other citizens.

The protest was announced by the party’s National Organiser, Henry Nana Boakye, who criticised the legal representation provided by the state during the appeal proceedings.
