They didn’t leave a dime for Agenda 111 – Kwakye Ofosu

Felix Kwakye Ofosu has accused the previous administration of launching the Agenda 111 hospital programme without securing the funds needed to complete it.

“You cannot build a house without first sitting down to count the cost,” he said on Metro TV monitored by MyNewsGh, referencing biblical scripture. “Agenda 111 was announced without money being set aside to fund it.”

He contrasted the programme with other hospital projects that had dedicated financing. “For UGMC and other regional hospitals, the money was already in an account.

As certificates were raised, funds were drawn down,” he explained. “For Agenda 111, they didn’t leave a dime.”

Kwakye Ofosu rejected criticism that the current government has delayed completion. “You had eight years and couldn’t complete even one hospital for public use,” he said.

“You cannot expect a government that has been in office for about eleven months to clear that mess.”

He said the 2025 budget makes provision to complete about ten hospitals next year. “As we make progress, more will be completed, even as we address other urgent national priorities,” he added.

He also defended the government’s focus on decentralised development, citing improved releases of the District Assemblies Common Fund. “Assemblies are now building CHPS compounds and 24-hour economy markets because the funds are actually reaching them,” he said.
