This is abuse of power, not consent – Leila Djansi reacts to Bole SHS sex tape

Filmmaker and director Leila Djansi has reacted to discussions surrounding a leaked video involving a teacher and a female student at Bole Senior High School.

The video has sparked public debate online, with some social media users attempting to describe the situation as consensual.

However, Djansi disagreed with that framing, saying the issue goes beyond consent and should be viewed as a case of power imbalance and abuse of trust.

“My social media has been flooded with discussion about a teacher in Ghana having a sexual relationship with a high school student,” she said.

She added that people who defend such situations are ignoring the seriousness of the issue.

“As usual, some ‘boys’ are rushing to call it consensual. But any mature, educated, and responsible man knows this is not only about consent. It is about right and wrong. It is about power. It is about abuse of trust,” she stated.

She further argued that there needs to be stronger education around ethics, responsibility, and accountability, especially when it involves minors in school environments.

“What makes the girl different?” she asked, suggesting that reactions to such incidents often change depending on the gender of the victim.
