Nigerian Comedienne Tomama has alleged that women are involved in major crimes such as money laundering, drug dealing, pimping, fraud and kidnapping.
In her words, people are too quick to label women prostitutes when they cannot explain their source of income.
Speaking on Instagram, Tomama said women are often underestimated when it comes to criminal activities.
“Once some of you can’t figure out a woman’s source of income, you’ll just tag her a prostitute.
“You people don’t even rate women in the crime scene. Women are involved in a lot of things that will leave you in shock,” she said.
She listed money laundering, drugs, pimping, “yahoo”, “aza man” and kidnapping among the activities she claimed some women engage in.
Tomama also cited some businesses in Lekki as an example, alleging that certain shops with few or no visible customers could be used to launder money.
“You see most of those big shops in Lekki that never have customers, yet they are still running and they are owned by women. They are cleaning money with those shops,” she said.
According to her, some women do not strongly object when they are called prostitutes because they would rather accept the label than have people investigate the actual source of their wealth.
“This is why a lot of them don’t argue when you call them prostitutes because they’d rather accept that than for you to find out what they really do,” she said.
Tomama added that people should not assume prostitution is responsible for every woman’s wealth.
“Women commit big crimes but you all think it’s prostitution. Try the prostitution yourself to see if you’ll achieve what they have achieved,” she said.
