Ghanaian journalist Umaru Sanda Amadu has celebrated his call to the Ghana Bar by returning to his hometown of Asutsuare Junction in the Shai Osudoku District, dressed in his wig and gown, to inspire children growing up with limited opportunities.
Amadu, a broadcaster with Citi FM and Channel One TV, was among 1,568 new lawyers called to the Bar on Friday, October 9, 2026, at a ceremony held at ICGC Christ Temple in Teshie, Accra.
In a personal account of his journey, he recalled growing up on cattle grazing fields and becoming the only child in his family to attend school.
“Lawyer? Hell no!!! Not in this village. Unimaginable. Impossible!” he wrote, describing how pursuing a career in law once seemed beyond his reach.
After years of study and professional training, he said he had gone from what appeared to be limited prospects to being admitted to the Supreme Court of Ghana as a barrister and solicitor.
He returned to the same room where he was born and the cattle kraal where he once worked, wearing his wig and gown, to show children in his community that their circumstances need not define their future.
“I have become a Cowboy Lawyer and that, they could too, if they dream Beyond The Limit!” he wrote on social media, signing off as “Umaru Sanda Amadu Esq., Cowboy Lawyer.”
