New Patriotic Party (NPP) National Chairmanship aspirant, Awentami Paul Afoko, has called for renewed unity within the party, saying reconciliation must be grounded in the core values that have historically defined the NPP.
Addressing a press conference, Mr. Afoko argued that internal divisions continue to undermine the party’s electoral prospects and urged members to rally around shared principles rather than factional interests.
“The New Patriotic Party cannot win when it is divided.
“We cannot win when old wounds remain open. We cannot win when loyal members feel excluded, humiliated, ignored or pushed aside,” he said.
According to him, the party must restore the values of respect, discipline, tolerance, service and loyalty if it is to regain strength and reconnect with its members.
“We must bring back the abiding principles of our tradition: respect, discipline, tolerance, service and loyalty to a cause bigger than any one individual,” he stated.
Mr. Afoko stressed that his ambition is to unite rather than deepen divisions within the party.
“I am not coming to lead one faction against another. I am coming to help reconcile the party.
“I am coming to build bridges across generations, across regions, across tendencies, across camps and amongst all genuine party people who believe in our tradition,” he said.
He maintained that restoring unity around these values is essential if the NPP is to rebuild public confidence and return to government.
