Black Queens coach Kim Lars Björkegren has asked his players to improve their finishing after Ghana lost 1-0 to Cameroon at the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON).
Ghana created many chances but failed to score as Marie Gisele Ngah Manga’s first-half penalty gave Cameroon all three points in their Group D match on Sunday.
The Black Queens controlled many parts of the game and created chances through Doris Boaduwaa, Portia Boakye and Evelyn Badu. However, their failure to score from those chances cost them the match.
Björkegren praised the team’s performance and said Ghana’s strong defence and ability to create chances show they can compete. However, he believes the team must become better at scoring goals.
“I still believe a lot in this group, and we know that we have a strong defense. I mean, the only way to score against us is with a penalty, more or less, right now. And we just need to take care of our chances.”
“It shows that we’re doing many good things. We create chances enough. We have a strong defense. If we just start to score from our chances, then it’s going to be a fun tournament.”
