The High Court in Accra has dismissed a lawsuit aimed at blocking Baba Jamal’s candidacy in the Ayawaso East by-election, ruling that the case was procedurally flawed and the plaintiffs lacked legal standing.
Democracy Hub had argued that the NDC primary was “marred by vote buying” and sought to stop the party from fielding a candidate.
But Justice Agyenim-Boateng upheld a preliminary objection from the NDC, ruling that the originating processes were defective and describing the suit as “incompetent.”
Because of these technical defects, the court did not consider the vote-buying allegations, clearing the way for Baba Jamal to contest in the by-election scheduled for Tuesday, March 3, 2026.
