Why I live with a huge python I inherited from my dad – Old woman reveals

An old woman from Kenya has explained her long-term living arrangement with a large python she says was inherited from her father for spiritual purposes.

The woman said she has kept the snake for many years and insisted it has not caused harm to anyone in the community.

According to her, the python moves freely and feeds on rats and chickens, while she maintains that the situation is part of her spiritual practice.

“The snake eats rats, chicken, and some flour, and that is how life goes on,” she said.

She added that while some neighbours have raised concerns about missing chickens, she believes the issue is mutual.

“Some neighbours complain that my snake eats their chicken, but their chicken also eats my grains, so they should not complain,” she said.

She also described the snake’s movement patterns, saying it sometimes stays in a hole or a container and moves around when it chooses.

“As far as sleeping is concerned, the snake can sleep in his hole or mtungi, and if he wants to roam about, he can,” she said.

The woman said the python is part of what she described as inherited spiritual responsibility and should not be interfered with.

“I use him for my own things; it is for my spiritual work, but it doesn’t hurt anyone; he is like a king,” she added.
