Why NIB raided Kofi Ofosu Nkansah’s home

Officers of the National Intelligence Bureau have searched the residence of former NEIP CEO, Kofi Ofosu Nkansah, as part of investigations into alleged sale of government scholarships.

His lawyers say he was not arrested and only honoured an invitation to assist investigators.

According to the legal team, the search followed comments Mr. Nkansah made on radio, claiming some people were paying to secure scholarships abroad.

Speaking to Citi News, lead counsel Nana Agyei Baffour Awuah said the officers could not produce a warrant when asked.

He added, “My client went to the NIB voluntarily and provided all the information requested.”

The investigation was ordered after President John Dramani Mahama directed the NIB to probe the claims, describing them as a matter of public concern.

Lawyers insist Mr. Nkansah’s cooperation is aimed at helping establish the truth.
