A woman identified on X as Awelewa @A4lasade has shared how she accidentally revealed her friend’s birthday surprise after the friend’s husband sent her a private message.
According to Awelewa, the man sent her a DM asking her to call him when she was free. She said they were friendly but did not normally communicate, and she did not even have his phone number.
After receiving a second message, she replied that she was busy and would call him later.
Awelewa then took a screenshot of the conversation and sent it to her friend.
Her friend called her shortly afterwards and explained that her husband had contacted Awelewa about her birthday. She then asked Awelewa to call him, which she did.
The man told Awelewa that she had ruined the surprise because he was planning a trip to Lagos to celebrate his wife’s 40th birthday.
“You just ruined the birthday surprise for her. I was planning a trip to Lagos to celebrate her 40th birthday,” he reportedly told her.
Awelewa questioned whether she was wrong to inform her friend about the DM, saying she preferred to be transparent rather than privately communicate with her friend’s husband.
“Please, how is this my fault? Did I do anything wrong by telling my friend that her husband DM’d me?” she asked.
She added that she believed telling her friend was better than starting a private conversation with her husband without her knowledge.
